Sanitary and Hygienic Conditions Improved at Samat School in Batken

At the primary school in Samat village, Batken Region, specialists from the “CAMP Alatoo” PF have resolved an issue that directly affected students' health. A solar water heater was installed on the roof of the educational facility, bringing hot water inside the school building.

Previously, students in grades 1 through 4 had to wash their hands outdoors at a standard water standpipe. During cold weather, children were forced to use freezing water, which violated sanitary and hygienic standards and caused significant discomfort.

The changes were made following an appeal by the school administration. The equipment was installed as part of the project " Improving access to safe water, sanitation, and hygiene in the Batken region" (WASH), supported by Mission East. The project aims to provide the residents of Samat village with sustainable access to safe drinking water and to introduce modern sanitary and hygienic standards through community training.

Additionally, water infrastructure construction activities were carried out in Samat village. Despite being located near the town of Razzakov, local residents had long faced a shortage of drinking water.
