From March 26 to 28, 2026, the Seventh Global Meeting of the Mountain Partnership is being held in Andorra la Vella. This landmark event is a cornerstone for the sustainable development of high-altitude regions. Under the theme "Mountains for the Future: Responsible Tourism, Thriving Communities," delegates from across the globe have gathered in the European principality to develop strategies for the protection of fragile mountain ecosystems.
“CAMP Alatoo” PF is taking an active role in shaping this agenda, presenting regional expertise at several key side events of the summit.
The Director of the Foundation, Murat Zhumashev, spoke at a side event organized by the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) titled "Advancing Bioeconomy in Mountains: Pathways for Biodiversity Conservation." He shared the successful outcomes of the project focused on the climate change adaptation of migratory mammals in Central Asia (CAMCA). Participants discussed the transition to economic models that restore nature rather than deplete it.
Furthermore, within the discussion "Adaptation at Altitudes: Connecting the World’s Mountains," Murat Zhumashev highlighted the profound impact of the climate crisis on the livelihoods of high-altitude communities in our region.
“CAMP Alatoo” PF has been a member of the Mountain Partnership since the mid-2000s. The organization was the first NGO from Central Asia to join this global alliance. Under the auspices of the UN, the Mountain Partnership now brings together 687 members, including national governments and international institutions, dedicated to improving the lives of mountain peoples and protecting the environment.
